Paul Cooke has joined the Technical Sales team on secondment from the factory, where he has been laminating cabinets as part of our manufacturing team. Paul brings valuable hands-on product knowledge, and we are excited to see his experience from the shop floor translate into added support and insight for our customers.

We are also pleased to welcome Lucy McNiven, who joins Jo Bird on a three-month internship from the University of the West of England. Lucy will be working with our Marketing team, helping to refresh our literature and marketing materials to ensure they are ready for the year ahead.

Jo Bird is delighted to announce the successful completion of our roof upgrade project, marking another important milestone in our sustainability journey. We would like to thank John Perkins Construction and BBA Architects Ltd for their expertise and support in bringing this project to life.

The upgrade has significantly improved the amount of renewable energy generated on site, helping move us closer to our long-term environmental goals. Since 2021, this project has enabled us to triple our renewable energy production, while also delivering several key improvements across the facility.

As part of the works, we have removed hazardous materials, improved overall energy efficiency, and installed new signage to proudly reflect who we are and what we stand for. These changes not only enhance our building but also support a safer, cleaner, and more sustainable working environment.

And as a welcome bonus, the project has also returned our car park to full use, helping making life a little easier for everyone on site.

Ten years ago, Jo Bird placed a JB62.150 cabinet on our roof as a long-term durability test. At the time, we weren’t quite sure what condition it would be in when it came back down.

As shown in the recent video, the cabinet’s appearance reflects what you would expect from a product exposed to the elements for a decade. However, beneath the surface, the results speak for themselves. There is no sign of corrosion, thanks to our use of 316 stainless steel, and the cabinet is still fully operational and structurally sound. Even its red finish has remained intact.

After just 15 minutes with our polishing team, the transformation was dramatic, proving that true quality only needs a small amount of care to shine again.

While our CAPEX investment may be slightly higher, this test highlights the long-term value of Jo Bird products. Ten years of service with minimal maintenance represents a major OPEX saving, and this cabinet is now ready for many more years ahead.

The upgrade will allow us to improve efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and enhance production capability across the factory.

To minimise disruption to customers and ongoing projects, the work is being carried out during the summer holiday period, traditionally our quietest time of the year. 

This upgrade represents more than just new equipment or infrastructure; it is an investment in the future of Jo Bird. By strengthening our processes today, we are building a more sustainable, resilient, and innovative business for years to come.

In FY24–25 alone, we produced over 3,500 cabinets in 18 vibrant colours, demonstrating both the scale of our operations and the flexibility of our product range. This achievement reflects the hard work, commitment, and collaboration that runs throughout the business.

To recognise this success, we wanted to reward the team in a way that was both fun and memorable. The answer? A team activity that involved a little friendly competition and plenty of laughter. Fortunately, our team is well accustomed to hitting their targets.
